General Healthcare Science: Much of Bret’s info comes from his professional work as a pharmacist. From his schooling of receiving a doctor of pharmacy degree and his experience in the general healthcare field for around a decade. Through this science Bret came to understand the basics of health, and how to weed out unscientific/irrational data. Unfortunately though, once Bret had the epiphany that he needed to focus on understanding emotions in order to fix his own disorders, he found that there was very little reliable knowledge from the healthcare industry about how emotions work. Very little data about how emotions affect the physical body, and of most importance how emotional tendencies created by childhood, genetics and the norms of society can be broken and conquered. So, Bret had to look elsewhere to gain greater knowledge about emotions.
The Science of Success Psychology: (which is marketed heavily to the Entrepreneurial/self-help industry) Since, Bret wasn’t finding the material he needed in the healthcare industry he followed his intuition and it brought him towards the science of success psychology. He then read book after book in this science from the likes of researcher/authors such as: Napoleon Hill, Steven Covey, Bob Proctor etc. These books provided much of Bret’s understanding about the process of emotional and sub-conscious change.
The Science of Marketing/Persuasion: Bret stumbled upon this gem of knowledge when he realized that in order to get out his research/ideas to a highly distracted and bombarded population he would have to learn how to market his ideas. And Bret was wide eyed when he found out what marketing is all about… Emotions. Emotions are the MOST important link towards getting people to buy into new ideas and products, therefore, this science is full of great information about emotions and how they affect our behavior and decisions. This science helped Bret fill in quite a few of the gaps and unanswered questions he had about emotions that were left from the previous two sciences.
Bret along with his own life experiences integrated all of the above sciences together to create a most comprehensive theory about the disorders of addiction, depression, and chronic pain, and how emotions, NOT genetics, are their MAIN cause.
